What is Supported and Supervised Contact in the Community?
I Care MK provides Supported and Supervised Contact for children and families who require an independent third party to be present during contact.
Sessions take place in suitable community settings, giving families the opportunity to spend meaningful time together in a more natural and relaxed environment, while having the reassurance of a trained professional present.
Contact may take place in parks, cafés, activity centres, libraries or other appropriate community venues, depending on the child's needs, agreed arrangements and individual circumstances.
We believe family contact can benefit from taking place in real-life, age-appropriate settings rather than being limited to a formal contact room.
Depending on individual circumstances, families may be able to enjoy activities, visit local attractions, go for a meal, play at the park or simply spend time together.
All locations and activities are considered in advance to ensure they are appropriate, safe and suitable for the agreed contact arrangements.
Supported or Supervised - What's the difference?
Supported Contact
During Supported Contact, a trained member of our team remains present and is able to see all interactions between the child and family member.
Our role is to support a safe and positive contact experience, offering guidance where appropriate.
At the end of the session, we provide a verbal handover about how the contact has gone.
Supported Contact includes:

Supervised Contact
Supervised Contact provides a higher level of observation and recording.
Our trained staff member remains in a position where they can see and hear all interactions throughout the contact session.
The session is professionally observed and a factual written report is produced following contact. Reports can be provided to the appropriate parties and may be used within family court proceedings where required.
Supervised Contact includes:

How Does It Work?
1. Initial Assessment
We discuss your circumstances, the contact arrangements and any relevant requirements or identified risks.
2. Agree the Level of Contact
We establish whether Supported or Supervised Contact is required and agree the appropriate arrangements.
3. Plan the Session
A suitable date, time, location and contact plan are agreed.
4. Contact Takes Place
A trained member of our team attends throughout, providing the agreed level of support or supervision.
5. Handover or Report
Supported Contact concludes with a verbal handover, while Supervised Contact is followed by a written report.
